Rules are not made for the fun of it. They are made to be adhered to. And if you disagree with the rules of this site, the solution is very simple...just walk away.

The rules fall into 2 categories because the administration of this site are answerable to the host, Proboards, and the first category rules are theirs, laid down by them and where contravened, Proboards will have no hesitation in removing the entire site from the public domain.

Their rules:

1. No person under the age of 13 yrs old may be a member or post here. Hence, you must enter your date of birth in your profile...this applies to every single member. You do have the option, now, to hide your age from view, but you must still fill in the details of Date of Birth. Failure to do so will result in membership termination rather quickly.

2. No plagiarism. Every graphic, every piece of text, every sound bite etc. that is attributable to someone other than the person who posts it in this site MUST be accredited to the copyright owner. Failure to do so, upon proof being obtained or even where there is reasonable cause to suspect there is plagiarism involved, will result in immediate termination of membership.

3. Obscenity, racial comments etc. are NOT permitted. This is a family site and everything in it must be suitable for the eyes and ears of a 13 yr old. Failure to comply will result in written warning followed by termination for further offences. Plus the offensive material will be removed without pemission from owner.

Our Rules

1. Respect for fellow members and for the site administrators and staff is expected. If you have any grievances, use the pm system and talk to the person concerned or inform a moderator or any of the administrators. No one here is against you. We are all poets, or poetry lovers, and we should at least attempt to live in harmony.

2. Plagiarism is THEFT. We feel as strongly about it as Proboards which is why it is in both sets of rules. A single incident of THEFT will result in immediate termination and, where it is possible, further action will be taken to apprise others of the crime. Steal from one poet and you steal from us all. So do NOT expect any sympathy if you are caught...and you shall be caught if you do it, because spybots are now used to trawl the net looking for such crimes....fact!

3. This site was built upon the premise that Poems deserve the right to reach their potential. Thus we are proponents of critique here. If you do not wish for critique, there are many other poetry sites online and I am sure you will be welcome there. Comments about poems posted should in some way reflect that you have read the poem first...NICE WRITE is unacceptable as a comment in Born Poets.

4. Any differences of opinion about critique must be settled amicably.

5. The limit of poems that may be posted is currently restricted to 5 per week per person BUT you may only have 3 poems on page 1 of the NEW POEMS forum at any one time. Any other poems must be posted in other appropriate forums and possibly that will reduce the number of replies it gets as most people go straight to New Poems generally.

6. Spam is NOT permitted here. There is a mutual links section, for members only, but no advertising of other sites is permissable elsewhere except as a single line in the signature of a member's profile. If a link is found to lead to an offensive site, it will be eliminated and the member concerned will cease to be a member of Born Poets will immediate effect.

7. Topics may be moved to more appropriate places if they are blatantly in the wrong spot. Please try to choose the right home for your poems.

Further rules might be added in time. You will all be notified by pm should that prove necessary.
